Coal mining is the second largest pillar industry of SDIC，mainly operated by its subsidiary SDIC Coal Company.

 

By the end of 2008, SDIC Coal Co. realized total assets RMB 25.85 billion, with an year-on-year increase of 34.4%; profit RMB 3.2 billion, with an year-on-year increase of 137.3%; owners' equity RMB 10.04 billion, with an year-on-year increase of 36.04%. Annual production capacity reached 20.58 million tons. The projects are mainly located in the provinces of Anhui, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Henan, Shanxi and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

 

To realize its goal of leap-forward development, SDIC will explore large coal reserves in the coal-rich areas such as western of Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Gansu, etc and build large modern coal mines. At the same time, SDIC will also make efforts to develop coal-power integration projects and coal chemical projects to extend its industry chain to the lower stream sectors.
