Coal mining is the second largest pillar industry of SDIC，mainly operated by its subsidiary SDIC Coal Company.

 

By the end of 2009, SDIC Coal Co. realized total assets RMB 31.675 billion, with an year-on-year increase of 25.24%; profit RMB 2.279 billion ; owners' equity RMB 11.52 billion, with an year-on-year increase of 17.99%. Annual production capacity reached 26.78 million tons, in which 9.2 million tons were projects in pipeline. The projects are mainly located in the provinces of Anhui, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Henan, Shanxi and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

 

To realize its goal of leap-forward development, SDIC will explore large coal reserves in the coal-rich areas such as western of Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Gansu, etc and build large modern coal mines. At the same time, SDIC will also make efforts to develop coal-power integration projects and coal chemical projects to extend its industry chain to the lower stream sectors.
