Ports and shipping business is taken charge by SDIC Communication Company, with its scope involving road (bridge and culvert), ports, shipping, development and management of related equipments. Assets scattered mainly in the regions of the Bohai Bay, the Yangtze River mouth, the Pearl River Delta and the Beibu Bay. There are 18 ports in each of which SDIC has more than 100 million yuan worth of rights and interests. The ports in which SDIC has controlling shares include the Caofeidian Coal Port (the first-phase project has an annual handling capacity of 50 million tons), the Jingtang Port Coal Dock (with an annual handling capacity of 30 million tons), the 150,000-ton bulk cargo dock at the Longkou Port, the third-phase project of the Zhenjiang Port, and the third-phase project of the Yangpu Port, etc. Projects under construction have a total investment of 11 billion yuan. The Jingtang Port, the Caofeidian Port, Longkou West Port, the third-phase project of the Zhenjiang Port and the third-phase of the Yangpu Port will form an annual handling capacity of more than 100 million tons in the coming three years. The SDIC Far East Shipping Co Ltd currently has a shipping capacity of 190,000 deadweight tons and in the coming few years, its capacity will exceed 1 million deadweight tons.
