From March 24^th to 26^th, hosted by the State Council Development Research Centre, China Development Forum was held in Diaoyutai State Guest House Bejing. With the theme of China in the New Era, the Forum also discussed high-quality development, supply side structural reform, innovation driving force, 40 years of China’s reform and opening up, control of financial risk, poverty alleviation and pollution prevention and treatment.

Chairman Wang Huisheng attended the Economic Forum on March 24^th, and delivered a speech. China Development Forum is the first national level international forum after the NPC and CPPCCC, aiming at having dialogue with the world and seeking common development. It is a platform for dialogue for Chinese senior leaders, global business leaders, international organizations and scholars. It has been 19 years since it is first held in 2000. It has made contributions for promoting exchanges on development policies and international cooperation.

Wang Huisheng delivered a speech on the forum. He talked about how to better practice a company’s social responsibility through innovation and how to serve social development through innovation.

First, how should we better practice social responsibility through innovation. In the new era, major social contradiction has changed to be the contradiction between people’s need for a better life and unbalanced and inadequate development. In the next 3 years, the focus should be the prevention and withstanding of major risks, targeted poverty alleviation, pollution prevention. SDIC put forward the strategic direction for its development that is making up the short board of beautiful life and setting direction for emerging industries. This is not only the duty of SDIC but also the responsibility of SDIC.

Second, how should we serve the social development through innovation.

A coin has two sides, so does innovation. The invention of vehicle has changed people’s way of transportation but it has brought about air pollution. New energy vehicle has reduced air pollution but mistreatment of old battery will bring pollution to soil and water. The wide application of smart phones has brought convenience to people’s life but the leakage of personal data has brought about insecurity to people. It is a serious question for all the enterprises to consider that how to promote the contribution of innovation to social progress and meantime reduce the negative impact on social development.
