The National Science and Technology Award Conference was held on November 3, 2021 in Beijing. CPC Central Committee and national leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Wang Huning and Han Zheng, etc., attended the conference and presented awards to winners. China Water Environment Group won a second prize of the State Technological Invention Award for its wastewater advanced nitrogen removal technology and application. In addition, quite a few projects hosted or participated in by enterprises with investment from SDIC Fund Management and SDIC Unity Capital, etc. won multiple prizes.

China Water Environment Group under SDIC: Second Prize, State Technological Invention Award

The wastewater advanced nitrogen removal technology and application is a major achievement developed by China Water Environment Group in collaboration with Harbin Institute of Technology and Beijing University of Technology to meet the country's huge demand for technology and application that removes nitrogen and phosphorus from wastewater. The project proposes a new theory of biological regulation in wastewater treatment, opens a new path of non-carbon dependent biological removal of nitrogen, invents a new material, new technology and new process of nitrogen removal, and creates a low carbon, low energy consumption and highly efficient technology system, which has been applied in quite a few wastewater treatment projects and makes a breakthrough in solving the bottleneck technological and engineering problem for deep removal of nitrogen from low carbon-nitrogen ratio wastewater. The wastewater biological removal of nitrogen technology offers a key technological support and low carbon solution for renovation, advanced treatment and wastewater recycle of the country's wastewater treatment system.
