On May 26th, 2022, SDIC Xiaosanxia Power Generation Company's Daxia Hydropower Station succeeded in upgrading the capacity of its 4 turbine units, expanding its installed capacity from 300 megawatts (4×75MW) to 360 megawatts (4×90MW).

At 12:00, May 26, turbine unit No. 4, the last unit of the four turbines of the technical renovation and capacity expansion project of SDIC Xiaosanxia Daxia Hydropower Station, had completed all dynamic tests and was connected with the power grid for commercial operation after 72-hour's heavy-load continuous test run, indicating that the technical renovation and capacity expansion project of the Daxia Hydropower Station had completed in schedule.

The technical renovation and capacity expansion project of the Daxia Hydropower Station started its feasibility study in 2016. In December 2016, the project was filed and registered with the Baiyin City Reform and Development Committee and in 2017, the feasibility study report of the project passed assessment. In April 2017, SDIC Power approved the project and in September 2018, the project started construction. Since then, the technical renovation and capacity expansion work was carried out for unit 3, unit 2, unit 1 and unit 4 respectively with each passing year. The smooth completion of the technical renovation and capacity expansion project of the Daxia Hydropower Station provides strong support to guaranteed electric power supply and also plays an active role in helping the clean energy development and energy structure adjustment of Gansu Province and the realization of the country's goal to peak its carbon dioxide emissions by 2030.

Since its construction, especially the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a lot of difficulties arose, such as the rebound of pandemic cases and requirements for normalcy prevention and control of the pandemic, and delayed supply of materials and delayed arrival of personnel. Through overall arrangement, elaborate planning and thorough deployment, SDIC Xiaosanxia Power Generation Co., Ltd. completed on time the tasks at all stages of the technical renovation and capacity expansion project in a safe, well-aligned and highly efficient way thanks to the joint efforts of all participants, from which the company has gained valuable experience and made substantial achievements.

In the next step, SDIC Xiaosanxia Power Generation Co., Ltd. will arrange timely the work related with inspection and acceptance, final settlement of account and overall assessment of the technical renovation and capacity expansion project of the Daxia Hydropower Station and make new contributions.
