Red Rock Power Limited of the UK Starts Pouring Concrete for the Foundation of the First Wind Turbine of the Benbrack Onshore Wind Power Project

2023-08-14

On July 6th, 2023 UK time, Red Rock Power Limited of the UK successfully started pouring concrete for the foundation of the first wind turbine of the Benbrack onshore wind power project, marking the start of the project’s main construction phase and laying a solid foundation for the project to be put into operation for electricity generation in early 2025.

Located in the Dumfries and Galloway Borough in central Scotland, the 67.1MW Benbrack onshore wind project is designed to install 13 Vestas 4.5MW turbine units and two Vestas 4.3MW turbine units, with an estimated annual electricity generation capacity of 203.8GWh.

SDIC Power acquired the development right of the Benbrack Project from RWE in February 2021. After nearly two years of preliminary development, efforts are made to have effectively solved the problems of supply chain shortage and rising costs caused by changes of the situation in Eastern Europe during the development process, thanks to the company’s reasonable development and contract tactics. Having successfully started construction in October 2022, the projectis planned to put all the turbines into operation for electricity generation at the beginning of 2025.

The Benbrack Project, 100% owned by Red Rock Power, is SDIC Power's first independently developed greenfield project in the UK. Development of the project is of great significance for SDIC Power to enhance its greenfield project development capacity in the UK and further explore the UK and European markets.
