With the firecrackers of the Year of Loong, the New Sky Energy (Thailand) Bangkok City Nongkhaem Phase II project and Onnut project, Thailand’s largest domestic waste incineration power generation projects, began their preparatory work for construction on February 9th and February 19th respectively, marking the official kick-off of the construction.
The first construction machinery of the Nongkhaem Phase II project enters the site.
Onnut project site
The Nongkhaem Phase II project is located in the Nongkhaem solid waste disposal center in the west of Bangkok, while the Onnut project is in the east of Bangkok. Each of the two projects is designed to incinerate 1,400 tons of domestic waste per day, and will be equipped with two incinerators each capable of incinerating 700 tons of domestic waste per day and one 35MW turbine generator unit. The projects will adopt the highest standard available of efficient dust removal, desulfurization and denitrification, sewage treatment system, online environmental monitoring system and other leading environmental protection technology, and will be completed and put into operation in 2026. Adhering to the ecological and environmental development concept of “harmonious coexistence between man and nature”, the projects will greatly relieve the pressure of domestic waste disposal in Bangkok, help Bangkok realize the goal of reusing resources, reducing resource utilization, and treating domestic waste in a harmless way, which will contribute to the development of a green, low-carbon and circular economy in Bangkok.
Rendering of the Nongkhaem Phase II project
The Nongkhaem Phase II and Onnut domestic waste power generation projects are the second and third generation garbage power projects invested by New Sky Energy in Thailand. Since the end of 2019, after signing a contract with Bangkok City government and under the strong leadership and support of SDIC Group and SDIC Power, New Sky Energy has overcome many difficulties. After having made unremitting efforts in four years, the company finally obtained the complete and compliant permits to start the two projects, and began official construction work on February 9th and 19th respectively.
The construction of the projects is an important measure for New Sky Energy to implement the spirit of the SDIC Group and SDIC Power 2024 Annual Working Conference, actively integrate into the construction of the Belt and Road, and solidly promote the progress of infrastructure construction in Thailand. For the next step, New Sky Energy will adhere to scientific site management, with a more efficient and pragmatic work style, actively promote the construction progress, do a good job in infrastructure management, and strive to put the project into operation as soon as possible, make fresh contributions to the construction of a globally trusted comprehensive energy investment operator for SDIC Power, and make new achievements for SDIC Group to build a world first-class capital investment company.
