The FIDIC Global Infrastructure Awards 2026 ceremony was held in New Delhi, India. FIDIC is the authoritative international organization for the global engineering consulting industry. The engineering contract conditions and management standards formulated by FIDIC represent the highest level of the sector.

Nominated by the China Association of Engineering Consultants and led by Yarlung Tsangpo Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. under SDIC, the Lianghekou Hydropower Station stood out among 11 shortlisted mega projects worldwide and was awarded FIDIC’s top honor — the “Excellence Award for Mega Projects” of the year, ranking first among all winning entries.

As the world’s highest earth-rock dam constructed in China with full-process digital and intelligent construction technologies, Lianghekou Hydropower Station has overcome world-class technical challenges concerning the design and construction of super-high earth-rock dams, high-head flood discharge systems and underground caverns under high in-situ stress. It has set 11 world records in intelligent construction of super-high earth-rock dams, high-head flood discharge systems, high-stress underground caverns, water-solar integration and other fields. The project has realized the transition of dam construction from digitalization to intelligence, promoted technological upgrading in the design and construction of super-high earth-rock dams, and offered a “Chinese solution” for similar projects across the globe.
